I've heard discussions are already under way with his agent to work on a buyout. No, there is no fixed buyout less than the value of the contract, but to get rid of the guy, he has to be paid.Â
My guess is Tedford will be offered the opportunity to resign rather than be fired if he is cooperative in terms of structuring the payments he is contractually due.Â
His team is going to finish 3-9. With the debt service for CMS, California can't afford to keep Tedford any longer. Moreover, the football program is suppose to be the economic engine to fund a large part of the athletic department. That can't be done with waning interest in the football program, lots of empty seats, and donation support drying up, all on the decline right now, and can only get worse if Tedford is retained.
