Though in total fairness, we could say that after someone set their own house on fire, they fell on hard times. I'm not sure I can think of a coach who has recruited over her own recruits, misused the transfer portal, and failed to identify players who actually fit her program's culture more than Barnes. And I say this as someone who really, really likes her, but man, she could use the pro equivalent of a GM. When it comes to personnel decisions, I'd grade her close to a D since McDonald went pro in 2021...

I’d say Kelly Graves has had a similar experience at Oregon since the stellar Hebard-Ionescu-S Sabally team graduated.  He’s had significant roster churn including the entire subsequent #1 recruiting class (Dugalic, Pao Pao, Parrish, Scherr, Watson) transferring out of Eugene.  Similarly to Barnes approach Graves has gone with a shorter roster and stopped recruiting over the team’s star freshmen.
