Right now, some of you may be asking why Stanford would schedule a game like this. There are two parts. First give the starters a rest. Second give the bench players some serious playing time.

And to be fair, when scheduled probably far in advance, might not know if this opponent might get new hot coach and/or bunch of quality transfers in via portal

I think these games against lower tier teams are scheduled earlier in the year, not years in advance.
I doubt the Stanford WBB pays these teams very much and they don't have much in the way of travel expenses.
