Northwestern hired a new athletic director, MarK Jackson, last week. Based on his introductory press conference, NU doesn't plan to back off and are building what they call one of the top college stadiums in the country. They do get a full share of Big 10 money and don't field as many sports as Stanford, but with its higher level of resources, Stanford should be able to do better. (The admission requirements for football and basketball players may be one area where Northwestern has an edge).

He was recruited from Villanova, but he has an interesting and varied background in football, including USC, Raiders, and Patriots.
