Yes, many flaws in Sagarin at this stage. I used it out of convenience/familiarity but for what it's worth here is how SP+ ranks teams:

10) Notre Dame
16) Louisville
21) Clemson
27) TCU
35) Virginia Tech
38) SMU
42) Cal
51) NC State
64) Syracuse
82) San Jose State
83) Wake Forest
N/A) Cal Poly

That probably does a better job ranking based on this year's results/rosters than Sagarin, which still needs a few more weeks to get the results connected/meaningful. Either way, I think it's very likely Syracuse was overhyped.
