The letdown potential is real, but in this case that is a push.
Oregon had won 9 of the last 10 and 2 in a row. Oregon was seen as the class of the Pac-12 North, etc.
But with UCLA...
UCLA had lost 12 of the last 13 to USC. USC was seen as the class of the Pac-12 South. And here is the biggie, USC is actually UCLA's rival for the alums and students. So UCLA beating USC in a game that actually was going to decide the Pac-12 South should have been at least as big as the Oregon thing for Stanford.
