I'll be very interested to hear how much and what exactly Coach TT says about injuries in his pre-Cal presser.
Of course I know he is reticent to say much about it, for competitive game-planning purposes.
But he has in the past sometimes been willing to comment on guys as being unavailable or unlikely or possible or day-to-day or something other.
Secondary, RB's, LB, almost every position seems to have somebody(s) down.
He has a practiced generic non-answer but will be honest when asked specifically about individuals. Reporters need to not ask how health is and instead do rapid fire on whether Wright, Sinclair, Ford, Tabb, Irvin, and Patterson will be available.
Regarding Patterson:
I'm speculating here, but I think they might seek a medical exemption. He redshirted one year (2019), played 3 years (2021-2023), and participated in four games this season (if memory serves). There's a strong incentive for him not to attempt to return if he wants to play another year at Stanford. This would give him time to finish a graduate degree and would fill a void in playing time on the interior DL with Phillips leaving and no big bodies in the pipeline.
Regarding Sinclair:
I don't remember what he hurt vs. NC State - maybe it was a shoulder. He looked pretty spry in videos of the post-game celebration on Saturday (jumping around and waving both arms - a far cry from playing football, but still...) My guess is that he'll find a way to suit up for his last Big Game.
RBs:
It would be great if one of them can return, almost certainly not Tabb. At least we're in better shape than in 2022. Davis Jr. and Butler have actually been trained in the position.
Safety:
Speaking of emergency running backs, we should add Leigber to the list. He took a blow to the head on Louisville's TD run in the 4th quarter, went to the tent, and did not return. #18 Sumlin took his place.
Rogers:
Medical exemption? Even though none of us can quite figure it out because he started game 5 and played about a quarter? I think others noted that he did not appear in the Last Walk photo.
A little birdie told me that Tristan Sinclair is good to go for Big Game.
