Sportsmanship is a quaint notion of a bygone era. So, this is just a natural extension of the in your face crap that permeates sports.
Michigan won a rivalry game. Big upset. Celebrate with your fans. But instead, they chose to “stick it” to the OSU fans. I’d say Bush League move. But heck, bush is now the norm.
And if you feel as many do that sports is a reflection on society. Well…..
Also in the news during rivalry weekend was the story about how nebraska team captains refused to shake hands with Iowa team captains before their game.
It does feel like there’s a “new normal,” but let’s not forget that the 49ers Terrell Owens celebrated in the Dallas Cowboys Star. Should the Cowboys team run onto the field and started a brawl?
I’m not suggesting that Ohio State “should have” responded as they did. I am, however, not the least bit surprised that they did respond in that fashion.
