Michigan is 7-5, currently, T7th with Minnesota and Rutgers, just one game ahead of Washington and USC, and two games ahead of UCLA, MSU and Wisconsin (by overall record).
At 7-5, Michigan will likely end up in the Reliaquest Bowl in Tampa, the Music City Bowl in Nashville or the Mayo Bowl in Charlotte. The Big Ten bowl selection process gives priority to the bowls in that order. Since Illinois will probably end up in the Citrus Bowl, the next bowl down is the Reliaquest Bowl, f/k/a the Outback Bowl and prior to that, the Hall of Fame Bowl. Michigan has appeared in that game six times, going 3-3.
If Reliaquest passes, then the Music City Bowl could scoop up Michigan. They've never been to Nashville for a bowl, so...maybe. If those two Bowls pass up Michigan...and they probably won't...then the Pinstripe Bowl, lastly, the Mayo Bowl.
Michigan bowl projections: Where Wolverines are going after upsetting Ohio State
Incidentally, Washington & USC are still eligible for the former Pac-12 bowl ties and affiliations, including Alamo, Independence, Holiday, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Sun Bowls. Sun Bowl a strong possibility for either USC or Washington, facing either UNC, Ptt, Va Tech, Ga Tech or BC from the ACC.
Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl could feature Washington or USC
