And so they do, eight athletic scholarships per team against 4.5 offered by the NCAA. I don't believe they restrict academic or hardship scholarships in the way that NCAA schools do, at least according to a star setter from my son's club who attended an NAIA school. I remember vividly that BYU had a scandal in 2011 when they recruited players by offering what amounted to full rides to the entire incoming class. That was my son's freshman year, he actually benefitted from that in that Princeton's first choice took the full ride at BYU instead. The NCAA came down hard on BYU, even allowing the players to transfer without a redshirt year. The player who declined Princeton in favor of BYU ended up at UCLA.
