This following email was sent out went Laura was scrubbed from the PACS website. I am not active in the organization so I have not heard what led to her departure, announced with no fanfare or flourishes you would expect for the stepping down of the chair and founder. It was about a month before her husband came out publicly for Trump, whose values are anathema to PACS.
Gratitude and a New Era for Stanford PACS
Dear Friends,
We are writing today to share some important news about Stanford PACS. After serving as our inaugural advisory board chair for 18 consecutive years, Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen is stepping down from our advisory board. Laura’s vision, dedication, and support was the impetus for founding Stanford PACS. Her steadfast leadership combined with the scholarly interests of founding faculty directors Debra Meyerson and Woody Powell—later joined by Paul Brest, Rob Reich, Robb Willer and Patricia Bromley—helped to establish Stanford PACS as the preeminent interdisciplinary academic center where scholars and practitioners develop and share knowledge to improve philanthropy, strengthen civil society, and affect social change.
Stanford PACS will continue to be guided by a commitment to world class social science research. At the same time, to meet the needs of the current moment of political dysfunction, weakening social cohesion, and fraying democratic norms, we are expanding our vision to be more ambitious, collaborative, and international. We are excited to share more about our new directions in the coming months!
Sincerely,
Paul Brest
Patricia Bromley
Woody Powell
Rob Reich
Priya Shanker
Robb Willer
