You’re telling me playing a true frosh QB coming back from a throwing hand injury, with pins still in there, is bad for his development? Who knew?
The implication that TT actually wanted to develop his QBs is funny too (Bear Bachmeier was promised the starting job the second he matriculated, which is why he committed in the first place and subsequently left).
No, I'm saying that a highly-touted QB with two years under his belt at a program wasn't able to win the job against a fifth-yr (RS) transfer from a different program. Maybe I'm being unfair, but it feels like AD didn't improve as a QB from two seasons ago to last season, and EB didn't win the job. If Bear was promised the starting job his freshman year, that's another data point where TT projected Bear to be better than EB this fall, and that's mind-boggling. Coaching malpractice? From this uninformed observer, maybe.
To Gulbranson's credit, he was smart enough to get into Stanford, and I need to respect that w.r.t. his decision-making ability and playbook learning ability. He's played four years of D1 ball, and that does give him an edge over EB. I just feel bad for EB, but maybe Gulbranson is that good?
