Being a first year med student and trying to play varsity football, let alone win the starting QB role is an unlikely path to success in either.

Post-Bac makes sense and is Stanford's answer to transfers that can't get into a degree program.   Might it help him to get into Stanford Med next year or beyond - that will be an interesting data point to follow.
