Simply baffling. In my 50+ years watching this team, I can't remember anything quite like this. Brown is more accurate, more mobile, more decisive, has more touch, just better -- and it's not particularly close. Anyone know if Stanford made an over-sized financial commitment to get Gulbranson? Wondering if the coaching staff didn't want to be seen wasting money on a player? "Something' must be happening behind the scenes -- I can't imagine Reich could watch this year's QB play and genuinely think Gulbranson puts the team in the best position to win.
Like Row80Critic, I have also watched Stanford football for 50+ years. I thought I'd seen it all. Can someone answer this question: Has any other Stanford QB thrown 3 interceptions in one game before? And frankly, there should have been more - there was the batted-up pass into double coverage that was unbelievably dropped by the defender, as one example.
Are you sure you watched last year, when Ashton Daniels threw 3 interceptions in not just one, but TWO separate games (Clemson and SJSU)? It was so recent!
Here are more:
2024: Daniels vs. Clemson & SJSU
2023: Daniels vs. OSU
2021: McKee vs. ASU
2020: Mills vs. UCLA
2018: Costello vs. UW
2016: Burns vs. Colorado
(Can't say I blame you for blocking these out of your memory though...)
