Also relevant if he wants to claim damages. I would love to see him argue in court that the ESPN deprived him of the opportunity to go to another job post-Stanford, just for the ESPN lawyers to say, “no, the reason you won’t be able to get a job is because you suck as a coach” and for the ESPN analytics department to demonstrate just how much Stanford sucked under his leadership, whilst also showing news clips about how other coaches involved in scandals easily got new jobs so long as they won enough in their previous job.
