Hank, Matt Cassell got his degree in Quarterbacking under the tutoring of Norm Chow. If Nottingham had a chance to learn about the position from someone who developed Jim McMahon, Steve Young, Ty Detmer, Philip Rivers, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinert among others, I would agree with you 100%.Â
But Pep Hamilton has a very thin resume as a QB coach. Yes, he was the QB coach last year at Stanford working with Andrew Luck. However Josh Nunes' performance during the first half of this season has not been a rave endorsement of Hamilton's coaching abilities. Hamilton also was the Chicago Bears' QB coach from 2006-2009. Ask a Bears fan what they think about Rex Grossman, Jay Cutler and Kyle Orton and then prepare to cover your ears.
Further, Stanford's offensive philosophy will likely continue to be "run first."Â I can certainly understand someone like Nottingham wanting to play at a school that offers him a better chance to develop his QB skills.
