Yeah, the hagiography around Turley in these parts is excessive.  I know we were very successful when he was here, and his departure coincided with Stanford’s decline, but his utter lack of success elsewhere makes you wonder if it was truly Turley’s doing.  One also needs to note that an unfortunate number of Stanford alums from that time who were hit with PED suspensions in the NFL.  I’ve never seen any allegations around Turley or anyone else specifically, but you do kind of wonder if the culture around that time might have encouraged it, along with a willful ignorance amongst the people who should have known if someone’s S&C gains were chemically enhanced.
