I'm fairly certain that we have seen this poor fan here before under a different alias. He comes to agitate and mock while pretending to care.
As BC rightfully pointed out, we are all subsidizing the hapless UC athletic department and will likely bail it out as the debt and the red ink mount. Your CA tax dollars at work. I don't mind it to a point as a native Californian, I love our UC system, or at least once did (I have a UC grad degree). Some of us even helped to donate directly to the cause when the poor souls were about to lose the cal baseball program. Thankfully Esquer saw the writing on the wall and came back home to the Farm, but that program and others will soon be gone (both at cal and UCLA). The reality in this new NIL, deficit funding environment, is that it is highly likely that most/all universities will need to make tradeoffs and likely cut sports. Unfortunately, I fear the clock ticking for some programs at Stanford as well.
