Debra Zumwalt JD '79 is stepping down as Stanford vice-president and general counsel (chief legal officer) after 26 years on the job.  I wonder what her role was in all this.  The article outlines a lot of Ms. Zumwalt's contributions to Stanford, notably helping Stanford weather charges of fraudulent indirect research cost accounting as outside counsel in the '90s.
