Perhaps that is the silver lining CC.
If your child sees more and more of his friends and classmates getting the diagnosis and the accommodations, perhaps he will be more comfortable taking that step. My kids have told me that our generation looks at these labels with more of a stigma, whereas their generation is much more accepting that the spectrum is wide and that we are all on it in some way, shape and form.
