NCAA announced the bracket today. Stanford travels to College Station, TX to face Penn in a 1st round match. The winner likely plays #11 overall seed Texas A&M. This would place Stanford as the 22nd ranked team in the country, a drop from its ITA ranking of 18th. Looks like UCLA beat out Stanford for that spot as they play as the overall 18th seed in a regional in San Diego.

I don’t think you have a true S Curve after the Top 16 seeds and geography plays an outsized role here. They likely prioritized UCLA to San Diego as Stanford would fly to either San Diego or College Station regardless. It’s hard to judge how things shook out for the committee outside of the top 16 seeds.
