81Alum, the play-by-play listings indicate whether a shot attempt is a layup, a jumper, a 3pt shot, or a dunk. I have a program to parse those, but hadn't been pulling out individual shot stats like that. Maybe I'll try to do that this weekend. (BUT, the PxP are buggy, at least so far as substitutions (sometimes players score when the PxP has them on the bench; sometimes only 4 players are on the court; there is no consistency to show who starts the 2nd half), and have a quirk about the order in which things are printed when they happen at the same clock time. Obviously minutes played is kept separately from the PxP; I haven't checked, so it is conceivable that the PxP may disagree with the official stats on shots attempted, etc.)
For games on video, one could make a shot chart.
