How about this:  Penn State invited both Stanford and Ohio for that weekend. PSU then scheduled the Stanford match for The Palestra, not their home court, because they can sell a ton more tickets for Stanford than for Ohio. Then, they scheduled Stanford-Ohio for their home court , not The Palestra, so that the Stanford-Ohio match isn’t played in a mausoleum.  Seems to make sense.

It’s a three-hour plus road trip from Philly to State College

According to The Stanford Daily, the match is being held at The Palestra in celebration of the 100 year anniversary of that iconic venue… and it also has 2000 more seats than the Rec Hall at PSU, their home court.
