I'm not sure about that WIM. LSU has had about as much success against Bama as anybody, and they're nearly mirror images. I think Stanford's D could shut down the Bama offense as well as anybody else in the country. I think Oregon or A&M match up better on offense than we do, but their offensive styles also dictate defensive styles that are probably overall less successful against a team like Bama.
The truth of it is that Bama's offensive and defensive lines are simply the most dominant units in college football, and they have enough playmakers to win individual battles without resorting to gimmicks. I'm not sure style makes a difference against such superior talent.
