Having grown up in NJ, going to Duke never crossed my mind. I cannot remember Duke ever coming up as a possible destination. Princeton, Penn, Columbia and Stanford would come up in discussions. I imagine there are lots of NJ students at Duke. But that's not anything special. NJ sends most of its students out of state. When I was at Stanford, the place was full of cars with NJ plates.
