Of course, then another poster follows up with "and I heard Tom Brady REALLY wanted to play for Ca.l but had to settle for Michigan because Holmoe didn't see his talent."
A more honest assessment of the situation is that only 1 FBS school had a coaching staff with the foresight to recognize CK's talent, so that's where he went. Not other Pac10 school offered, from what I've read, and neither did any other FBS school. It's hard to blame our coaches when when the consensus seemed to be that he could not play at the FBS level.
Sure, it would have been nice to have him instead of Tavita. But then, maybe we wouldn't have replaced WH for Harbaugh and therefore not gotten to 3 consecutive BCS bowls.
The recruiting sites don't list Kal as a school of interest to him then. I'm sure if Stanford offered, he would have accepted. Yes only Nevada had the foresight to recruit him. Then again, from their perspective it may have been a no-brainer. Stanford needed to be in the business of identifying underrated/recruited players and this was a giant miss.
He red-shirted freshman year at Nevada so I don't think he would have saved Walt's job.
