I very much agree. I think that blocking/blitz pickup is a key skill that could determine playing time for the RBs. Look at our recent top RBs - Gerhart, Taylor, Jeremy Stewart. Our QBs have enjoyed the protection of some of the most capable blocking RBs anywhere. Barry J Sanders enters the season with a major disadvantage - he has no live college experience blocking/picking up blitzers. If he cannot master this skill next year, he could end up being used like Kelsey Young as a specialty back rather than a feature back. Not saying that as a negative. #39 provided some fantastic highlights this year. The first back in years who seems to have a 2nd gear downfield. But trying to set my expectations appropriately for BJS.
