I've refrained from much comment on the season to date based on application of that old principle about not saying anything if you don't have something nice to say.Â
I admit, though, that the prior posts lamenting that the problem with the team this year is that, essentially, the posters just couldn't bring themselves to care really hit the nail on the head. That was driven home to me last night when, as the second half of our game started, I found myself much more interested in watching the end of the UCLA/Arizona game, with only infrequent clicks back to our game for a quick [and relaiably discouraging] score check. I can't remember the last time I'd felt that way.
The body language during the game, as well the quotes in the paper after the game, sure seem to indicate that everyone is in "play out the string" mode. Thank goodness for the extended football season and the advent shortly of the baseball season.
