The other was Goodwin Liu who is now on California Supreme Court and I suspect will be in the conversation for the next Supreme Court opening.

He may be in the conversation, but I highly doubt he'll actually be nominated. President Obama chose Liu to become a federal appeals judge, and his nomination was blocked by Senate Republicans.

It was widely acknowledged in DC that the entire reason Republicans wanted to keep him off the appeals court was that the job would have set him up for a future Supreme Court nomination. He's bright, liberal and young, which worked against him -- if he'd only had two of those three qualities, he probably would have been confirmed by the Senate.
