81Alum, thanks for another good game summary! You're as dependable as Chiney.
Once again, we were a bit flat in the middle of the first half. I thought it was time for a "usual" Stanford run late in the first half when U.SC got within 2. Four and a half minutes later, we were ahead by 12.
Chiney got her impressive numbers yet again. Our offense was better than it has been, but not where we've been in other years. Our defense was again the reason for the victory. Offensive rebounding was great, 3rd best of the year, at 19 of 40 chances. That was the cause of the success in the second half.  34% of our shots were 3s (vs avg of 24%), even though our 3PT% was a little low. (That pushed down our FG%, even though our 2PT% was average) U.SC didn't help their cause by fouling. Our 25 FTA was second high for the year, and 19 made FT was the highest. The opponent's assist to FG ratio of 63% was second highest for the year, and higher than our 59%, which is pleasantly higher than our 51% average.Â
I continue to be pleased with Bonnie's improvement on the floor. Even though we didn't really need her shooting today, and she wasn't shooting very well, she played 19 minutes.
I am still bothered by Chiney playing 37 minutes in a 20+ point game. Jos played 38.
It is a good sign that we won by 24 points against a team that we beat by only 9 points last time. That's good because UCLA may have a bit of edge because of their beat down by C.al.
