I don't know, Extra Point. Even in my relatively short career, I've had stellar colleagues who graduated from Cal States and various state universities in the mid-west etc. (not to mention the better-regarded UCs). Even our own university president is a SUNY grad. I think anyone can get a good education at pretty much any accredited US university at the undergraduate level if you are willing to put in the effort. I think it's that "putting in the effort" part that's very much in question in this particular case.
