A similar story to the abolition of the Toyon Eating Clubs in 2009-2010.  The Stanford Eating Clubs were founded in the 1890s and had existed at the current site next to Toyon (or in that vicinity) since 1912.  But ResEd threw 100 years of history out the window when they closed the eating clubs and moved Toyon to a newly-constructed university food service building.

I was a member of the eating clubs for three years.  They were a rich part of my Stanford experience and I was very sorry to see them go.

That's terrible!  Some of my best Stanford memories happened at the Eating Clubs as well, not to mention we were better fed than the poor folks stuck with university dining.
