Don't know much about basketball but I like to note things about organizations and leadership. One of the great destroyers of organizational success is summed up by Bill Walsh's description of QB Steve DeBerg: "He plays just well enough to get you beat." That seems to be the case just looking at the up-down fortunes of Stanford basketball. Enough wins to give one hope, not enough to produce a credibly consistent, strong program on the path to success.Â
Or, maybe Dawkin's great and the proof is how well Stanford has done given the handicaps or circumstances it has had to deal with.
