In many respects, tweeting is just as formal a means of communication as is advertising. It's public. Social media has become a significant marketing tool for many businesses. Twitter is full of business accounts. In my company, each publication has its own Twitter account and Facebook page. In the past eight months, we've gone through three people who have washed out as social media producers. Posts with misspelled words and incorrect grammar are image killers in the publications industry. It's unprofessional and makes the company look stupid. To overlook such errors is asinine.
"To the press alone, checkered as it is with abuses, the world is indebted for all the triumphs which have been gained by reason and humanity over error and oppression." ~ James Madison
