I see multiple truths in this thread:
1. There is a level of "txt" and twitspeak that is not acceptable in formal context, but is acceptable as slang among youths.
2. Most educated people can code switch between different levels of language, but the less educated cannot.
3. Autocorrect often chooses incorrect words. Knowing correct spelling is still important.
4. Some levels of incorrect spelling and grammar in twitter are considered more egregious than others.
