Come on...we're talking about the guy's job security already? Seriously? Kinda preposterous.
Muir did set him up for a difficult next couple of years with the MBB program, potentially. With all the returning veterans, and if they take a step forward, this SHOULD be a very good team that can at least make the NCAA tournament. But, the next year, a brobdingnagian number will graduate, and then what? Well, the team made the tourney, so Dawkins gets at least one more year, which may be a pretty bad one (drawing from the past time here). I guess then you only have to eat one year of his contract, if that's the case.Â
I disagree with Muir's decision, but no way this single decision, even regarding a major sport, puts his job in danger. Now if he makes a series of bad hiring decisions, including an eventual replacement for Dawkins, that's a different story
