Speaking of the Vatican, has anybody else done the Scavi tour? I highly recommend it. It's the tour of the excavations of the Roman necropolis beneath the Papal tombs. You can see 2,000 year old tombs that are amazingly well preserved. They also take you to the area they believe is St. Peter's tomb. Very spiritual experience for me, and I'm not even Christian (if anything Baha'i or Jedi). It was the most amazing tourist experience of my life so far. It's a small area so they don't publicize it and the tours are limited. You have to make a request months in advance. But trust me, it's well worth it. Make sure you try to see this if you are going to Rome.
Once again, this carries the Publius guarantee. If you aren't satisfied, I'll take you on a personal tour of our arch nemesis Harvard University, which for all its faults, is a pretty cool place to visit.
