Gave Hollywood a miss.  Very wise.  The place is awful.  I grew up in SoCal and we went to Hollywood often as teenagers.  Got to see some great music played in small clubs, but other than that, it was just people milling about on blocks and blocks of touristy souvenir shops.  Hadn't changed much when I last visited.  Well, I'll cop to one great blind spot re: Hollywood.  I just didn't get the whole star on the sidewalk thing.  Imagine battling traffic and crowds to walk along looking down at the sidewalk just so you could say: "Oh, look!  Here's Jerry Lewis"    Pretty barren form of amusement.
