I found this mention in the release interesting:

The SEC now leads all conferences with three institutions in the top 10 – Florida (2nd), Texas A&M (6th) and Georgia (9th).

Are they just pimping themselves to the SEC to make the DC more relevant to fans who mostly care about football? Or do they historically mention the relative conference performance?

If this quote from the Final Fall 2012 press release is any indication, singling out the conference with the most Top 10 schools is standard:

"The Pac-12 now leads all conferences with three institutions in the top 10 – Stanford (1st), Oregon (6th) and UCLA (7th)."
