Interestingly, Oregon taxpayers voted to give themselves a tax increase last year.  This year, Washington taxpayers refused to institute a state income tax.

The amount of money thrown at higher education (mostly public but some private) simply cannot continue.  California is bankrupt, and many other states are not far behind.  As a nation we need to look at other models of educating our children -- the big, lavish public education factories are the dinosaurs of our age.

As a football fan, it makes me sad to write that, but as a taxpayer it makes me hopeful.
