I would agree that higher education is a better investment than many other things.

Then the answer is simple. Yes, government spending is out of proportion to incomes but the cuts should come elsewhere first. As MassillonCardinal pointed out with a specific example, there are other areas of state spending that have grown far more unmanageable (and IMO, unjustifiable).

Sacrificing the one aspect of the American education system that\'s still competitive with the rest of the world doesn\'t seem like the smartest move to me.
