One addition to our budget problem situation: it\'s mostly health care-driven. The U.S. spends far more than its developed-world peers on health care, and spending has been accelerating faster than its peers also. The product of all this spending is worse health care.
If you\'d like to solve budget deficits, the place to start is health care, not higher ed. (Also, if you\'d like to solve stagnant wages and poor public health, health care is an excellent place to start too.)
