That is the analysis that I have placed on top of my partial taking of his initial comments saying "I want to be at Stanford forever" at face value. Because I think it can partially be taken at face value. I will feel more genuinely surprised if I am proved blatantly wrong in believing that from Shaw than from some other "win at football guy" like Harbaugh.
(I admit I am not sure what "partially taking something at face value" means. Taking it for face value, but at 85 cents on the dollar?)
I agree. When Shaw says he wants to stay "forever" I interpret that to mean he will probably be around for a few more years.
When other coaches say that, I interpret that to mean until a good NFL offer comes up.
Put another way, I take it with a grain of salt, but a much smaller grain of salt than I take similar proclamations from other coaches.
