Is part of the delay in having his jersey retired the fact that he was (rumored?) estranged from the university after the way the school treated his dad as coach? I thought I read during the 2010 season that Elway was just starting to get back tied into the school with the Orange Bowl being the first time he was on the sidelines for a game.
