Re: Ruef. If Tara wants her back, I can't see her not coming back.
Re: Chiney. I still maintain that any stat suggesting that the team plays better without her on the court is a dubious one, but I appreciate MT's take on why a stat such as that might occur. I do agree that the one player who might benefit from Chiney's absence (offensively) is Amber. I think MT is right on about the double/triple teams clogging the lanes. There might, however, be a better way to address this problem.
I've liked seeing Chiney at the high post lately. The post-Chiney-low and force the ball into her was sub-optimal. Chiney s not Jayne down on the low post. Chiney is a slasher, who can drive with the ball from the high post and crash the boards without it. She can also catch the ball, pass it and then quickly post up before the defense can react. I think there is better ball movement and less standing around watching when she starts the possession around the foul line.
As MT says, it also gives Amber room to operate, which she has shown she can do, if the middle is not clogged. I confess that I have been having a hard time figuring Amber out all year.Â
I also completely agree that some of our bench players would benefit from seeing some meaningful minutes in some up coming games. I particularly hope to see both Jasmine and Tess get more playing time.
