So, SUBuddha -- was the coach your dad met as a walk-on Cactus Jack Curtice? When I was a student, the mention of Cactus Jack (who preceded John Ralston) brought shudders from alumni, who considered his coaching stint to be the dark ages of Stanford football. I wonder how many of them wrote Cactus Jack letters of apology once the Buddy/Idiotface era was in its full, dark bloom.

I don't think Cactus Jack received too many apologies. The fans I know who lived through that era still haven't forgotten, or forgiven, Curtice's 0-10 season in 1960.

On the numbers, Curtice was every bit as bad as Teevens/Harris. Winning percentages:

.286  Teevens/Harris (16-40)
