One of the commenters says it's a no-brainer as to who the next coach should be. "Just call the guy at Stanford and tell him to bring his entire staff to Texas and be done with it." No comment on why the guy at Stanford would be interested -- presumably to a Texas fan it's self-evident...

Because Mason probably wants a head coaching gig.  Texas wants the defense.  Not enough bells and whistles on the offensive side.  Go figure.
