Wow Sagarin hates us...#19 in his BCS rankings. 15 as it's factored into the BCS because he has 4 FCS teams ahead of us!
It should be noted that this year he is using a new rankings system- previously his system was pretty much just a factor of a teams SOS and their W-L record, it was like the RPI in college basketball.
I don't quite understand the changes because his explanation is rather vague, but on their face the new rankings differ a LOT from his prior rankings and seem pretty absurd. Bethune-Cookman at #4????? I'm guessing we're getting punished a lot by losing to Utah, a team that is not particularly highly ranked, but I'm not clear on why we're not benefiting from wins over UCLA, UW, ASU...our SOS is #11 after all.
Anybody have any thoughts?
