While I'm sympathetic to your view and in some ways would get a kick out of us completing a 4 year Tour de BCS, I think playing an undefeated OSU in the Rose Bowl would be a big challenge and a win would garner a lot of respect. Playing Missouri, for example, may not be as big an opportunity to make a statement.
I think it's a generational thing. I certainly "grew up" in the era in which the Rose Bowl was the end all be all, but almost half of my football fandom has been during the BCS era, and the prestige of the Rose Bowl has given way.
In truth, I'll be ecstatic if we play in any BCS bowl this year. The last 5 games on the schedule are not a walk in the park, and losing two is definitely in the realm of possibility.
