For my part, any front offices taking Martin's unique circumstances and applying them to Stanford players generally, who then miss out on some great players in the draft because of their ignorance, deserve to build losing teams. It shouldn't escape notice that Chip Kelly drafted Ertz, who was described as a tough competitor. The level of conditioning demanded by Chip's offensive approach cannot be maintained by soft quitters.
Though not totally similar, our offensive players are often dismissed by NFL scouts and such as mere byproducts of a system, no matter how much their individual abilities outshine the typical production of lesser talents from the same system. Biases against come in all manner of distastes.
